What Is Rally Obedience?

Rally is a sport in which the dog and handler complete a course that has been designed by a rally judge.  Teams move at their own pace which should be brisk with the dog under control at all times on the handler’s left side.  There are 10-20 stations, depending on the level.  Each station is numbered and a course will be posted.

There should be a sense of teamwork between the handler and dog both during the exercises and between the stations.

Student Testimonials

Sherri & Border Collie KodaHi my name is Sherri and I have a one year old Bordie Collie named Koda. We started our training by taking an obedience class. After a couple classes, I knew we found something fun and exciting for both of us to do. Karen introduced us to rally classes and I loved being able to interact with my dog in a positive and fun way. I just recently received a PEN number so that we could eventually compete in Rally competitions. Although we are still in the Novice stage, I’m really excited about taking Koda into the ring and working together as a team. Thanks Karen for your encouragement and to TNT Kennels.

As a novice obedience handler, I greatly appreciated two outstanding teachers at TNT Training Center, Karen Brearley for rally obedience and Maureen Murray for obedience. Both instructors ensured that our sessions were fun yet informative, helping us build appropriate skills as well as confidence. Onni was able to earn his titles in rally obedience to RE level and in obedience to CDX level with many High in Class or High in Trial.
