Teacup Training - Obedience for Small DogsTraining a small dog comes with its own set of very of unique challenges. Training methods that work well when training large dogs don’t always translate when used on smaller dogs. In addition, small dogs are often (and not unreasonably) afraid of being stepped on and will dart out of perceived harms way. This requires the handler take special care with positioning and movement so they feel safe. We have put together a number of techniques that will help you bring out the best in your small dog and help you save the wear and tear on your back at the same time.

Your dog will be able to socialize and enjoy a play group with dogs of his own size.  This is great for building confidence in your small dog!

We focus on helping you to train your dog to perform everyday life skills that all dogs, even small ones, should know. These include sit, down, stay, on your mat, heeling, recalls, meet and greet, and much, much, more. We will help you to become a team with your dog and show you how to make training fun!

A part of each class is spent introducing various pieces of Agility equipment to keep the class fun and to build your dogs confidence with new objects and experiences.

TNT Training teaches using positive reinforcement and motivational methods. To help your dog understand what we are trying to teach them, we use food rewards. This method of teaching is proven to accelerate the learning process for dogs. The alternative to positive training, is to use compulsion and adversive methods and this type of training is not only old-fashioned and highly outdated, but also produces dogs that work out of fear and not because they “want” to. At TNT we want both yourselves AND your dogs to enjoy the learning and training process.
