Puppy Training & Word Recognition

Start your puppy off right by laying a strong foundation. This package includes an in-depth demonstration from my Proofing & Problem Solving DVD of all the core foundation skills I feel are critical to teach a competition puppy. I have included new content focusing on Word Recognition – demonstrating with 1.5 year old Mighty – watch as he learns to understand multiple words.

Imagine being able to teach your dog to be responsive to the word itself and not using hand or body cues.  This will show how you can communicate with your dog on a higher level without having to lure your dog into positions, train your dog to be a thinking dog!  A couple of fun proofing exercises for word recognition are also shown.

Tip: Make note of how I mark the correct response with my voice.  My timing is very good and I capture the behaviour immediately, before he has time to reconsider doing something else.  Your timing will play a big factor on helping your dog to understand what you want.

My new home video clip includes a demonstration of how I teach the sit stay from puppy onwards and some of the problem solving techniques I use for a dog that wants to move on the stay.

I like to use the FITPAWS disc and wobble board to strengthen my dog’s core, back and legs.  This is not only a great workout for your dog, but helps to strengthen their body for the group stays.  Especially good for those dogs that slump and slide backwards or rock over on their hip during the sit stay. I have put together 4 home videos for you to view so you can make training these exercises super fun for you and your dog!

Tips, Tricks & Games!

This package includes lots of fun exercises for your dumbell training.  In this clip I demonstrate my dumbbell pick up game, and then a student attempts it with her dog.  This shows the mistakes that happen with a dog and handler that have never done the pick up game before and even better, shows the students work through the problems and find success.

In the updated content for this title I demonstrate how to start teaching the dumbbell by first starting with a chin rest and how to introduce the hold. I also demonstrate a number of dumbbell focused games to both proof the exercise and build drive and "want to".
